JENKINS, ROBERT CHARLES MBE, MC

He was killed when Avro 504K, H9829 of No 4 Sqn in which he was flying, piloted by Obs Off Hesketh failed to climb after take off and struck telegraph wires on the Farnborough Road followed by the left wing striking a tree and the aircraft coming down on its nose.  Allen Hesketh was either thrown out or jumped out before the aircraft came to rest, but Jenkins suffered a fractured skull and died later that afternoon in hospital.

He was killed when his aircraft, DH14 Okapi, J1938 came down in flames at Dropmore Park, Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire.  He serving with the Royal Aircraft Establishment at the time of the accident.  A civilian employee of the RAE was also killed in the crash.
