RAF Casualties 1919 - K


In the list below some non-commissioned personnel are shown with two ranks, the first is generally that shown in the CWGC Register whilst the one in brackets is that shown on their records or what it should have become on 1 January 1919 when the RAF introduced a new rank/classification structure for non-commissioned personnel.  Where only one rank is shown this appears on both the CWGC register and the service records.

He was killed whilst flying Snipe, E6200 of the Central Flying School, which crashed after stalling in a climbing turn and is buried in Hampstead Cemetery.

He was serving as a staff officer at the Air Ministry and died in the RAF Central Hospital from malaria, he is buried in Hampstead Cemetery.

He died in Connaught Hospital, Aldershot from natural causes whilst serving as an Electrician (Cinema) at the School of Photography and is buried in Glasgow (Craigton) Cemetery.

KELLINGTON, ARTHUR GEORGE (40820)

He was serving as a Rigger (Aero) with No 2 (Northern) Aircraft Depot and was killed by a train on the NER line at Welton, he is buried in Welton Church Cemetery.

He died in 83 General Hospital, Boulogne from influenza whilst serving as a Labourer with the Aero Service Unit and is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille.

He died in the City of London Hospital from influenza whilst on leave from HQ 16th Wing where he was serving as a Driver and was buried in/or was cremated at City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, Manor Park.

He was discharged on 13 Jun 1919 as being physically unfit and died from tuberculosis of the lung, he is buried in Sandown-Shanklin (Shanklin) Cemetery.  Prior to discharge he had been whilst serving as a Labourer with No 59 Training Depot Station.

He was killed in action whilst flying DH9A, F1086 of 'A' Detachment, RAF Instructional Mission South Russia when a bomb dropped from its rack and exploded shortly after take off from Beketovka, he is commemorated on the Haidar Pasha Memorial.

He died in 14 Stationary Hospital, from enteric fever and broncho-pneumonia whilst serving as a Wireless Operator with HQ, 91st Wing and is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille.

He died in Lincoln County Hospital from osteomyelitis of the femur whilst serving as a Rigger (Aero) with the Boys Training Wing (Cranwell) and is buried in Leicester (Belgrave) Cemetery.

He died, cause unknown, whilst on the strength of the Dispersal Centre, Clipstone, prior to which he had been an Aircrafthand with No 8 Sub Unit and is buried in Leeds Roman Catholic Cemetery.

He died in 3rd Scottish General Hospital, Glasgow from a cerebral tumour whilst serving as a Labourer with No 9 Aircraft Acceptance Park and is buried in Moston (St Joseph's) Roman Catholic Cemetery.

He died from septic pneumonia whilst serving with No 10 Sqn and is buried in Woodgrange Park Cemetery, East Ham.

KING, CECIL FREDERICK MC, DFC

Having served in WW1 and achieved 19 victories, he was employed as an instructor with No 3 Fighting School, when he was killed in a mid-air collision whilst flying Camel, C8318 at Sedgeford in Norfolk.  He was buried with full Military honours in Docking (St Mary) Churchyard.

He died in captivity from wounds sustained after being hit by ground fire during an attack on Bolshevik troops at Topsa and is buried in Archangel Allied Cemetery.

He was probably on demobilisation leave from the Clipstone Dispersal Centre when he died in Beverley, cause unknown, and is buried in Beverley (St Martin's) Cemetery.  Prior to discharge he has served as a Batman with No 57 Training Depot Station.

He sustained serious injuries whilst flying a DH4A of No 1 Communication Sqn, which crashed on take off from Kenley following an engine failure.  He was extracted from the wreckage by his passenger, Maj-Gen Sir Frederick Sykes but died on the way to hospital and is buried in Sutton Coldfield Cemetery.
