RAF Casualties 1919 - F


In the list below some non-commissioned personnel are shown with two ranks, the first is generally that shown in the CWGC Register whilst the one in brackets is that shown on their records or what it should have become on 1 January 1919 when the RAF introduced a new rank/classification structure for non-commissioned personnel.  Where only one rank is shown this appears on both the CWGC register and the service records.

He was killed, presumably accidentally whilst serving as a Motor Cyclist with No 7 Stores Depot (Doncaster) and his buried in York Cemetery.

He was died in Lincoln County Hospital from influenza, whilst serving with the Boys' Training Wing RAF Cranwell and is buried in Perth (Wellshill) Cemetery.

He died in the Military Hospital, Hampstead from pneumonia whilst serving as a Clerk (General) with No 21 Sqn and is commemorated on the Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial

FEARNSIDES, EDWIN GRAVES

He had been transferred to the Unemployed List on 31 May 1919 but his cause of death is unknown at present and he is buried in Four Mile Bridge (or Pont Rhyd Bont) Wesleyan Chapelyard.  Prior to his transfer he had been training as a Medical Officer at the Medical Officers' School of Instruction.

He was training as a pilot with No 50 Training Depot Station. (Eastbourne) and died in a Military Hospital in Eastbourne from strangulation of the bowel, he buried in Halifax (Stoney Royd) Cemetery.

He died in Lincoln County Hospital, cause unknown, whilst serving with the Boys' Training Wing, Cranwell and is buried in Plashet Jewish Cemetery.

FENWICK, CECIL JAMES

He was serving at "X" Engine Repair Depot and died from a fractured skull sustained when the Crossley car he was driving collided with a lorry, he is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.

He was killed whilst flying in Bristol F2B, F4361, which collided with a balloon cable during a demonstration flight at the RAF Exhibition in Newcastle.  He is buried in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (St Nicholas) Cemetery.

He died at 43 Maitland Park Road, Haverstock Hill, Hampstead (his home) from pneumonia whilst serving as a Motor Body Builder at the Reinforcement Park and is buried in Highgate Cemetery.

He had been discharged from the RFC on 7 Jun 1916 as being unfit for service,  His cause of death is unknown but possibly connected to his discharge and is buried in St Albans Cemetery.

He was serving with the Central Despatch Pool and drowned as a result of Bristol F2B, F4838, in which he was flying, coming down in the Channel, he is buried in Oxford (Osney St Mary) Cemetery.

He was a Fabric Worker serving at No. 5 (Eastern) Aircraft Repair Depot and died in the 1st Eastern General Hospital in Cambridge from concussion and a fractured skull sustained when he attempted to board a moving car from the rear, he is buried in Dover (Charlton) Cemetery.
