He was the Observer of DH9, D7210 of No 104 Sqn, flown by 2 Lt W E L Courtney on a raid against the BASF works in Mannheim on 7 Sep 1918. They were attacked by fighters after dropping their bombs and they were forced down. Courtney became a PoW, but Sabey having either been hit in the air or injured in the landing died four days later and is buried in Sarralbe Military Cemetery. |
