He was the pilot of DH9A, E8410 of No 110 Sqn in a raid against the BASF works at Ludwigshafen.  After dropping their bombs, they were attacked by enemy fighters and they were seen going down having lost the tail of their aircraft.  He is buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery.

He was flying DH9, D5570 of No 99 Sqn in a raid against Railway sidings at Ofenburg.  Their aircraft was seen to leave the formation under control bit pursued by five enemy fighters.  He and his observer, 2 Lt D G Benson were both later reported as Killed in Action and he is buried in Niederezwehren Cemetery.
