He was the observer to Sgt F E Nash in DH4, A7876 of No 55 Sqn.  Their aircraft was badly damaged in a fight near the target at Obendorf and the pilot was forced to land the aircraft behind enemy lines.  Nash was wounded and Baker was killed during this action and is buried in  Niederezwehren Cemetery.
