served in the Northumberland Fusiliers prior to transferring to the RFC.
He was killed in 1943 when the aircraft in which he was returning from
the Middle East was shot down over the Bay of Biscay.
Citation for the award of the Military Cross
"Temp. Lt. Robert Parker Musgrave Whitham, North'd Fus. and R.F.C.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On four successive days he showed remarkable courage and ability in bombarding enemy positions, and working in conjunction with our artillery he rendered them most valuable information."
