On 26 October 1945 he was the Head of Mission (from EAAS) on a tour of through the Middle East, Rhodesia and down to South Africa in Lancaster III, PB873, 'Thor', arriving back at RAF Manby on 3 December.

After retiring from the RAF he has fulfilled a number of administrative and governing appointments in the academic field.
