Air of Authority - A History of RAF Organisation
RAF Colerne Personnel and units
On 1 September 1940 instructions were issued by HQ Fighter Command for the formation of a new Fighter Sector Station to be located at Colerne, which was then in use by No 39 Maintenance Unit, No 4 Aircraft Assembly Unit and No 10 Group Communications Flight. Due to lack of accommodation at Colerne the Station HQ was initially formed and accommodated at RAF Filton.
