He was killed whilst flying in Spitfire F Mk 21, LA211 of No 602 Sqn, which crashed during an attempted ditching in the Irish Sea following an engine failure during an air-to-air firing sortie. He is buried in Thornton-le-Fylde (Christ Church) Churchyard |
