He was serving with No 63 Base awas admitted to SSQ, Leeming after falling from his bicycle and hitting his head on the curb following a drinking session in Bedale on 9 October.  When his condition failed to improve he was transferred to the RAF Hospital, Northallerton and then to Newcastle General Hospital for a Craniotomy.  Two days later he died from Cerebral Oedema, laceration of the brain and subdural haematoma and a fractured skull.  He is buried in Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery.
