He was killed whilst flying in Oxford II, AP496 of No 21 SFTS, which crashed at Roseburn Farm, Bulawayo whilst low flying.  He is buried in Bulawayo (Athlone) Cemetery.

He was serving at RAF Holmsley South and died in the SSQ as the result of a self inflicted hanging.  He is buried in Grundisburgh (St Mary) Churchyard.
