He was serving with No 25 OTU and died from a heart attack suffered whilst picking up a medicine ball, it was later found he was suffering from severe heart disease.  He is buried in Blackburn Cemetery.

He was serving with No 16 Recruits Centre and was found dead in the garden of his billet at 16 Princes Road, Great Yarmouth having fallen from the 3rd floor.  He is buried in East Grinstead (Mount Noddy) Cemetery.

He had been invalided from the RAF earlier in 1942, after which he joined the Home Guard and was killed when he was run over by a lorry at Micheldever, Hampshire, whilst instructing other officers in map-reading .  He is buried in Wonston (Holy Trinity) Churchyard.
