He was killed whilst flying in Oxford II, W6551 of No 3 SFTS, which collided with Hurricane, BN187 of No 97 Sqn near Brockworth, Gloucestershire.  He is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery.

He was travelling aboard the SS Duchess of Richmond when he was crushed in an accident on board the ship and died from multiple injuries and a haemothorax due to multiple bi lateral fractures of the ribs. He was buried at sea and is commemorated on the Ottawa Memorial.
