RAF Casualties 1919 - S


The fatal casualties listed below are those shown on the Commonwealth War Graves Register as having died due to World War One, however they can be divided into two distinct groups.

The first group are those who were still on active service at the time of their death and the second those who had been demobilised but whose death was attributed to their war service.

Group 1 - Died on active service

He was killed whilst flying in DH10, E5446 of No 97 Sqn, which crashed following an engine failure during a climbing turn and is buried in or was cremated at Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery.

He died from meningitis whilst serving with No 14 Balloon Section and is buried in Tourgeville Military Cemetery.

He was killed whilst flying DH9, C1292 or D1292 of No 15 Training Depot Station, which spun into the ground at Hucknall following an engine failure on take off and is buried in Hucknall Cemetery.

He was killed or died whilst serving with the Dwina River Force in North Russia and is commemorated on the Archangel Memorial.
