He died from wounds (legs, thigh and hand) in 53 General Hospital whilst serving as a Carpenter with No 1 Aeroplane Supply Depot and is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille.

He was killed in action whilst flying in Curtis H-12, 8660 of RAF Great Yarmouth, which was shot down by enemy seaplanes and is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton.
