He was the observer to Lt A S Keep in DH4 , A7427 of No 55 Sqn on raid against the Mauser works at Oberndorf.  After dropping their bombs, they were attacked by enemy fighters and battled their way towards the Allied lines.  On reaching the lines, Lt Keep left the formation to land at a French hospital but on landing, Pollock was found to have already died of his wounds.  He is buried in Charmes Military Cemetery, Essegney.
