RAF Andreas and No 275 Sqn - 1942

The photos below were taken at RAF Andreas in 1942 and come from the collection of Bernard Matthews, whose son, Sir Stuart Matthews kindly provided them for inclusion on the site.  No 275 Squadron operated a detachment at Andreas from its main base at RAF Valley and these photos show some of the personnel of the detachment.  Aircraft depicted include Spitfires, which were used to search for ditched aircrew and Walrus amphibians which could be used to rescue them directly from the sea.
