 1 Feb 1944 No 292 Squadron was formally formed, probably in the UK, for service in the Far East
March
By the beginning of this month detachments of the squadron had been established at RAF Ratmalana and RAF China Bay in Ceylon equipped with Walrus aircraft: -

The UK element was probably in transit to India by sea and air during the month

26 Mar 1944 1 x new Walrus, HD807 was collected from Coimbatore
April
18 Apr 1944 Formation of Squadron HQ commenced at RAF Jessore
22 Apr 1944 First Warwick, BV452, arrived from the UK
Warwick I
22 Apr 1944 A party of 4 x SNCOs from the Air Ministry was located at Jessore to provide ground crews with instruction on Warwicks

31 May 1944 Ground crews moved from No 175 Wing site to the squadron's own Domestic Site

 2 Jun 1944 Squadron declared 'operational' by No 231 Group
 6 Jun 1944 Squadron carried out its first 'operational' sorties

 3 Jul 1944 Warwick, BV456 was collected from RAF Palem

27 Aug 1944 Advance party departed RAF Jessore for RAF Dhubalia
28 Aug 1944 The first Airborne Lifeboat was collected from RAF Alipore (his was originally brought out from the UK by Wg Cdr Starling)

 2 Sep 1944 Move to Dhubalia cancelled after all equipment had been loaded onto the train and unloading commenced
30 Sep 1944 Squadron completed its move to new technical and domestic building at Jessore
October
13 Oct 1944 Warwick, HG125 'X' crashed into the sea off Cox's Bazaar
16 Oct 1944 All Warwicks grounded due to fabric problems
November
11 Nov 1944 'E' Flight (6 x Sea Otters), departed RAF Drigh Road for Jessore
12 Nov 1944 Advance party, 'E' Flight, arrived at Jessore in a Wellington
15 Nov 1944 The first 'E' Flight, aircraft and crew arrived at Jessore
20 Nov 1944 Two more 'E' Flight, aircraft and crews arrived at Jessore
22 Nov 1944 3 x Liberator VIs arrived to replace grounded Warwicks

 2 Dec 1944 Instructions received for Warwick crews to be converted on Liberators, but that Warwicks are to be repaired and should be back in operation in 6-8 weeks
 4 Dec 1944 Operations recommenced using Liberators
 5 Dec 1944 First successful; rescue completed by a Sea Otter
 6 Dec 1944 2 x Liberator crews (operationally tour expired) arrived on posting but immediately grounded on medical grounds
10 Dec 1944 1 x Liberator crew (operationally tour expired) arrived on posting but immediately grounded on medical grounds
23 Dec 1944 1 x Warwick, BV467, arrived from No 352 MU but was immediately grounded
