This was originally formed on 8 July 1938 from No 2 ASU at RAF Hullavington but was redesignated No 10 MU on 1 February 1939 to avoid confusion with the co-located No 9 FTS at the same station. It was reformed at RAF Cosford on 15 March 1939 from No 5 ASU and was placed in No 41 Group on 3 April 1939.

It was transferred to No 51 Wing on 21 April 1941 but this disbanded on 31 October 1942, it disbanded on 22 June 1956.
