Citation for the award of Commander of the Order of the British Empire

"EELES, Henry, A/G/C (Royal Air Force) - Allied Expeditionary Air Force, No 85 Group.

From April 1943 to January 1944 this officer held the post of Group Captain, Organisation in Fighter Command and the Air Defence of Great Britain.  During this period, great reorganisations were made and as head of the Organisation branch he played a very important part.  He worked extremely hard, was invariably unruffled and showed himself to be a Staff Officer of outstanding ability.  He has continued to work with a high standard of efficiency whilst being employed in 85 Group.
