276 No 276 (Signals) Wing was formed in 1 Aug 1942 at Heliopolis to control Special Signals Units in Middle East Command.  It moved to Aleppo on 15 Nov 1942 and ten days later was transferred to North-West African Air Forces.  On 1 Dec 1943 it reverted to the control of RAF Middle East but on 24 Dec it came under No 214 Group of NWAAF, with a forward HQ at Conversano and a rear HQ still at Heliopolis.  Both 276 Wing and No 214 Group were transferred to Mediterranean Allied Coastal Air Forces on 1 Feb 1945 and the Wing disbanded on 31 Aug 1945.
